  • New Years Resolutions Again

Waddup Internet, Im back on xanga. I totally use this site to track myself year to year to see if I’ve progress or did I just do an epic fail

Well lets book at what I wrote down for 2011

2011 Goals ( They are pretty specific, I believe that's the key in accomplishing any goals, achievable, time line,)

By 2012 I would have accomplish the following:
    - 1 video a week on my youtube channel and reach 1000subs by may

I didn't accompish this goal, I did reach 625 subs howver, but 2011 I got big plans

    - 5 post a week on my dj blog

I still have my dj blog but I haven't been posting 5 days a week, more like

    - 1 mixtape a month, (12 in a year)

i have yet to produce a mixtape in 2011, I went through a lot in 2011 as a part of DJ'n, I kinda got turned off by the dj scene, how promoters just wanted young djs (like myself) just to promote and not to worry about the music. This kinda attitude turned be off from the dj scene, i still love dj'n and i'll continue listen to dj mixtapes, as for dj'n in the scene, i'll get back to it, but it has to be on my terms,
    - 10hrs of practicing dj;n a week (520 hrs)

    - see previous post

    - travel to one of the following locations: Vegas, Europe, Mexico, Hawaii

I did travel to Las Vegas for a Bachelor party and also Europe to celebrate the end of school!

    - Buy a rane ttm 57 mixer

    - I didnt but a mixer but i bought a DSLR camera for my youtube channel, I will get that rane ttm 57 mixer though. I have a job now that PAYS WAY MORE, more than what i used to make as a student

Looking back I only accomplished 1/6 of my resolutions. I really need to need to make better resolutions or execute them better! Reading these past entries I see myself as being motivated but I can't sustain it for some reason. It's like I have ADD or something. More than ever now, I have to be motivated in accomplishing my goals. I don't want to be stuck at my job that I don't enjoy........

    On to Events of 2011

    - Graduated College in April

    - I got a job as RN at the local hospital

    - Celebrating me being done school I went on a EuroTrip for Two weeks. Best Two weeks of my life! That Euro Trip was awesome and also short lived. I experience so many things on this trip and I love to do it all over again!

I recorded all of it on my youtube channel and I love watching them! you can check it out here at youtube.com/djromanj

    - After Europe, I went to Las Vegas for one of my best friend's Bachelor party!

    - I bought a DSLR camera, in 2011 but it hasn't come yet! lol

    - djromanj.com received a total make over which I'm totally proud of, I totally redesigned it by editing wordpress.

    - I had a uncle passed away early 2011, it was shocking and it changed my view on life,

    Now on to Resolutions

    - Go to Hawaii in MAY, I'll be going here with my girlfriend and friends sometime in May. In May my girlfriend will have graduated College, so this trip will kind of be a grad party!

    - Rane ttm 57 Sl, I will get that mixer by the end of the year. Each paycheck I recieve I'l save a certain percentage towards it and I will get it.

    - Be Bigger on Youtube, goal is to have 10,000 Subs on my djromanj and at-least 5000 on this other channel DigitalCoolDown - I will acomplish this by posting up 2 videos a week on my personal channel and at-least 2 videos a week on digital cool down..

     - Write atleast 3 times a week on by djromanj.com

    - Once a Month make a mixtape! Seriously, I have to do it, I enjoy djing, this should be an easy task, but for me its difficult I'm sometimes a perfectionist when it comes to making mixtape thats why it takes me so long. I should just create it and enjoy it and have fun with it....

    - Dj more often, Dj on NEW YEARS EVE. Seriously I want dj on NYE like I did back in 2008, I had so much. don't get me wrong spending time with friends and family is awesome but I want to experience it again. I Need to get back into the dj scene and start it up again.

The overall goal, is that I want to be PAID to be myself. I wanna get paid for doing things I do that's the bottom goal. Right now, it's not paying anything, well maybe except for dj'n I havent had a good gig since the summer. I have to change all that. Right Now I feel like I'm all talk but I have to just SHUT UP and do what it takes! seriously i get distracted but i have to do what it takes!

I'll be back in a year! to tell you how it goes!

  • New Years Resoultions

Oh Xanga, I'm back on this blog site once again. Every time I blog here its a time to look back at my past. This site is a time capsule of my early years of college and brings back memories. I'm here again to do what I also do every year, review the previous year and write down my ambitions for the next one.

    Goals of 2010
    - Practice DJ'n more often (Spin at least 20 hours a week)
I barely did that this year, even though I had a lot of gigs. I had a gig once a month in the club which I was happy about, but I know my DJ'n skills can get better.
    - Save money, for trips & inorder to buy new dj equipment  ( place a % of each paycheck into separate savings accounts)
So hurt looking at these goals, the only trip I did was local, Whistler, and I didn't buy any new DJ equipment either.
    - Crush It - Spin more often in clubs, promote myself,
I started a project its on youtube, I still have to work on it but it's a working progress.

    - Be more motivated aka don't be lazy - there are so many things I could be doing instead of being lazy - I realize now, that I have to work harder than ever to achieve my goals and by sitting around, nothing will come....

This is still the truth, motivation and focus are key elements that I have to focus on in-order to be successful. I can not get comfortable in any situation. When a person gets comfortable at a job and a position they are no longer striving for better - that  has happen to me a lot. I have to push myself, it's a difficult task to accomplish because I'm my own worst enemy. There's two voices in my head, DR. Jekyll and Hyde. It's a constant battle to control.

    Events  of 2010
    - I barely have any, the effects of school and working have left my life uneventful at times and pretty boring to the outside eye.
    - I had my cousin from Australia   hangout with my family and I for 6 weeks, that was awesome. I was a tourist in my own city, made me realize how wonderful Vancouver is. If your ever in Vancouver you can probably do every tourist attraction in under 6 days no joke.
    - I got a new car at the cost of losing my old car in a car accident
    - I started to spin more in clubs which is always a plus
    - I made a mixtape called overdue and got over 300 downloads. I'm pretty happy with that.

2010 was the year I was just focus in school and now it's paying off. I'm graduating in 2011! I can not wait to be done, university has taught me a lot and now that I have to enter the real world I know, what I have to do. I have find something that makes me happy and just do it and give it all I got. I sound so cliche writing this, but it's the truth. I don't want to be a person whose "comfortable" at any position. I need to push myself and put my mind to it, it's so easy to get "comfortable" and just sit and do something. In the end I want to amount to something I believe 2011 something good will happen to me.

2011 Goals ( They are pretty specific, I believe that's the key in accomplishing any goals, achievable, time line,)
By 2012 I would have accomplish the following:
    - 1 video a week on my youtube channel and reach 1000subs by may
    - 5 post a week on my dj blog
    - 1 mixtape a month, (12 in a year)
    - 10hrs of practicing dj;n a week (520 hrs)
    - travel to one of the following locations: Vegas, Europe, Mexico, Hawaii
    - Buy a rane ttm 57 mixer

Good luck to all those who made resolutions, hopefully you don't forget them!

  • Review of 2009 and Ambitions for 2010

    Hey Xanga

I'm back again. For some particular reason, when the present year comes to a close and a new year begins I'm always back on xanga to do a review. I have being doing these yearly reviews / conclusions for quite sometime now and It wouldn't feel right starting of 2010 without doing a review of 09 for myself!

    Resolution for 2009

    -    Take Dj’ing more serious - DJ at more DownTown Vancouver Clubs.
    - 2009 I was able to dj way more in the clubs, even though I was just opening it was still something. You have to start at the bottom and work your way to the top. I probably dj in the downtown club around 10 times, which is 5 times more than 2008
    -    Practice DJ'n more often
    - I'm always in that struggling battle between school and passion. I know make school as an excuse, sometimes it is but I have to practice. Practice makes perfect people. I had a gig the other night where I haven't practice in a while and I could tell I was rusty. I need to be sharp on my "A" game when I spin
    -    Maintain and create new friendships - Hopefully friends that will help in the DJ'n Scene.
    -
I actually made a few friends this year in the DJ game. These guys were really nice and I still learn a lot from them every time I spin. Everybody has somethign to teach you.
    -    Have A GPA > 2.0 -  Try to stay more focus when it comes to school.
    -
I actually have a gpa of 3.0 and I have been focus on school - one thing as a college student - I can't wait to graduate
    -    No debt in at the end of the year.
    - I still have debt but at the end of Jan 2010 - I should be completely financially free!!
    -    Go to VEGAS with just the fellas.

    - I went to vegas in April/May, I had an awesome time with the fellas.

4.5/6 resolutions completed - not so bad!
The key to accomplish resolutions are reminders and setting specific goals and sub goals.

    Highlights of 2009
    - Going to Lil Wayne and the Jay-Z concert.
    - Going to the Vegas with the Fellas -
    - DJ'n in a few clubs downtown - I enjoy every chance I get to spin live in-front of a crowd the feeling is so fulfilling.
    - I finally met a girl who understands me, after searching for so long for that special someone, I finally have her! I always remember 2009 as the year I finally met somebody who treated me the same way I treated them. I spent a lot of time in 2009 hanging out with her - so far she made it great. I hope for the best for both of us in 2010

    Downfalls of 2009
    - Sometimes I feel like I'm caught in the middle and I can't please everybody, I had a few of those situations in 2009 - I felt I was being too selfless (the situation itself is a downfall not being selfless)
    - Being a hermit because of school and not seeing friends for awhile...

    Goals of 2010
    - Practice DJ'n more often (Spin at least 20 hours a week)
    - Save money, for trips & inorder to buy new dj equipment  ( place a % of each paycheck into separate savings accounts)
    - Crush It - Spin more often in clubs, promote myself,
    - Be more motivated aka don't be lazy - there are so many things I could be doing instead of being lazy - I realize now, that I have to work harder than ever to achieve my goals and by sitting around, nothing will come....

Good Luck to those who have Goals in 2010, and I hope you accomplish them!!

  • Recap and School!

    Waddup Readers!!
You may have notice that I have not been blogging as much as I used to. This past month and a half has been killer, school has been taking up so much of my time. The program that I am in is just killler, and the amount of work I had to put up with has killed me, my hobbie of blogging and dj'n. Since the semster it's almost all over with I'm back, with a vengeance. I still have finals but I'm back at my hobbies.
Since my last post many things have happend:
It was my birthday on the March 11th and my age is the jersey number of the hated kobe bryant

Of course I had cake, Icecream cake is the bomb...

I celebrated by watching a Canucks Game with Abz ; ) ...I had awesome seats and on top of that they won!

    Next day

Overall my birthday celebration was fun. I had a blast of a time, and I got real tipsy. So tipsy that the taste of alcohol makes me sick to my stomach that I want to puke,. Ever since my birthday party in March I haven't taken down a shot or drank a beer. I have dj'd 3 parties since my birthday party, and at each of these parties I was offered alcohol. I took a sip of a shot and a beer and I almost puked. I'm not ready to drink again for a while...

The next time I'll be drinking is in Las Vegas. I have been planning a trip to Las Vegas with the guys for a while now, and at the end of this month we're all hitting up VEGAS.

    Vegas = Gambling
I learned how to play Craps just for this trip. Craps is an awesome game to play. If you ever have a chance to learn it, learn it! It's so much fun to play and your money goes a long way. YOu can also win a lot of money too if the shooter is on a hot streak!

    For the Music Post!

This is an awesome track from Dream - Walking on the Moon
I have no idea why this track is not as popular as it should be or why the Dreams' album was not promoted.
Awesome Track! The end of the semester has me walking on the moon!

  • The Bro Code

The Bro Code are a set of internal condoes of conducts among bros, that help reuglate Bro's behaviour, it was brought to the internet by Barney Stingson From How I Met Your Mother....

My Girlfriend got me the Bro Code; this exact book.

I recommend all Bro's out there should definitely get this book. The book is a definitely a good read, and you'll definitely laugh your head off reading this book. I couldn't put the book down, the comments that Barney Stingson suggest are just halirious as well as thoughtful. Some articles seems to be ridiculous but at the same time make sense:

    Article 108
"If a Bro forgets a guy's name, he may call him 'brah,' 'dude,' or 'man,' but never 'Bro."

    Article 32
"A bro doesn't allow another Bro to get married until he's at least thirty"

    Article 18
"A bro never sends a greeting card to another Bro"
    Emails for any Brocassion
    Sympathy
    To: Bro
    From: Bro
    Subject: Dude
    Msg: Sorry, bro

    Congratulations
    To: Bro
    From: Bro
    Subject: bro!
    Msg: Nice, Bro!

    Get Well Soon
    To: Bro
    From: Bro
    Subject: Bro . . .
    Msg: Don't Give Up

    Happy Birthday
    To: Bro
    From: Bro
    Subject: Dude
    Msg: Drinks on me Bro.

Buy this book, it's awesome and has a lot of insight about dating chick. There are also references to the topics that have been covered in How I Met Your Mother; if you own any of the Seasons of How I Met Your Mother you must own this book!

  • I'm bringing 25 back.

    I gave in!!

Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to slap the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

    1. Favorite superhero of all time is Spiderman.

    2. Favorite Basketball Team is the New York Knicks – Even though I don’t live in NY or ever been to NY. I just recall from my childhood in the 90’s that the NY Knicks Vs the bulls or the pacers or the heat, were the most entertaining basketball games I’ve ever watched. I’m still a Knicks fan, I follow their stats and players it’s a shame that they suck right now.

    3. I hate the Lakers and Kobe.

    4. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air my all time favorite Tv Show EVER. I tried to be like Will, when growing up, (cool, funny, witty) but at the time I was a geek like Carlton (lack of dance moves, and friends).

    5. I always need to have sauce when eating chicken; it can be either ketchup or ranch or BOTH.

    6. I’m born and raised in Surrey, and Surrey is not THAT BAD of a place. There are no gang shootings that occur all the time, and you won’t get mugged walking down central city. I live in Fleetwood, a nice area of Surrey, where the grass is green and where rabbits roam in the summer time.

    7. I prefer adventure vacations rather than relaxed vacations. Example I rather go to Disney world than relax on a beach. I rather go on a roller coaster than chill at a Spa.

    8. I can wiggle my ears; seriously, I can move them back and forth on command. Very Weird, I know.

    9. When I eat anything I tend to drink a lot of the beverage that is beside me, seriously, I usually drink 3 cups of coke, icetea, water, etc.

    10. I always have iced tea at home – I can’t seem to live without

    11. To the surprise of many people I have never ever gotten drunk where I have passed out. To be honest I’ve only been drunk a few times, because 95% of the time I’m the designated driver!

    12. I have big a sweet tooth for candy, not chocolate, candy. When I see candy I have to have some. It doesn’t matter if its cherry blaster, fuzzy peaches, sugar keys, twerps, skittles, etc.

    13. I collect FHM magazines around the world. I have FHM issues from Philippines, Australia, Belgium and other European Countries. And No FHM is not Porn, but I do admit in some countries the models do show a lot more in their FHM issues

    14. When I hear the song “The Electric Slide” by Marcia Griffiths at a party – I have to do the electric slide, no matter what.

    15. I got suspend in elementary for getting into a “fight”. I know. BadAss.

    16. Will Smith and Jackie Chan in my books are awesome.

    17. I’m six foot, very tall for a Filipino. My brother and my friend, Frank, can relate to being that tall.

    18. When I was younger I wanted to be a Professional Basketball Player that dream became shattered when I didn’t make the grade eight basketball team.

    19. When the karaoke is busted out at a party I always tend to look at the karaoke track list, and if they have anything by Usher I sing it. Favorite song to sing by Usher is “nice and slow”

    20. I can spend HOURS on the Internet listening and downloading music. I have about 100gigs of music!

    21. 50% of the time when I’m in the club I ‘m listening for the next track the Dj is going to play, I can usually get the track right, unless it’s a party break or exclusive mix

    22. Every time I start the car, The track I’m playing always has to start from the beginning

    23. Never been pooped on by a bird or stung by a bee.

    24. I can’t go anywhere without my music.

    25. When spinning at a party I love to make the crowd go “OHHHHHHHH” with the throw back tracks – it’s just an awesome feeling.

  • Review of 2008 and Ambitions for 2009

Every year I do make a review of the previous year and my ambitions for the next year. So here it goes:

    Resolution for 2008
    -    Take Dj’ing more serious; make it a goal to DJ in a Vancouver Club.  I Go to actually dj in the club a couple times this year, which I was very proud of
    -    Maintain and create new friendships. I made a lot good friends through school, and through friends of friends.
    -    Have an Honors GPA 3.0 - I learned my lesson about slacking too much in school - I'm have this mentality if you just pass, you're good.
    -    Get a part-time job and save enough money for school / travel / expensive toys. I saved for school and bought some really nice DJ equipment
    -    Travel to another country (Philippines, Japan or Taiwan)
I was just too busy with school to go anywhere out of the country

Not bad for getting 3 out of 5 resolutions done - I know some people just forget there New Years Resolution after the first few weeks.

    Highlights of 2008
    - I had hugged house party at my house - It was Legendary over 60 people were there.
    - I went to see the Kanye West Concert, Glow In The Dark Tour - an awesome concert!
    - I got back on track for school.
    - I was able to see the Jabbawockeez perform live.
    - Being a God Father again, that makes me a God Father 4 times now. God Father just spoils the kid, and I can't do that, not balling yet
    - Dj'n in a club, it was just awesome. Dj'n that NYE party was just nuts.
    - Making a lot of new friends.

    Downfalls of 2008
    - Relationships not going well as I thought it would be.

    Resolution for 2009
    -    Take Dj’ing more serious - DJ at more DownTown Vancouver Clubs.
    -    Practice DJ'n more often

    -    Maintain and create new friendships - Hopefully friends that will help in the DJ'n Scene.
    -    Have A GPA > 2.0 -  Try to stay more focus when it comes to school.
    -    No debt in at the end of the year.
    -    Go to VEGAS with just the fellas.

    Sidenote
In 2008 I went to school for all 3 semesters - for you USA people in Canada we have  tri-semester system instead of quad - I believe going to school for the whole entire year was pretty tough. I had no break from school and whatever break I did have was short lived - I just feel exhausted and tired of school, its a love hate relationship that exist. I get to see my friends and make new friends at school while at the same time, us students get tortured with assignments, essays and projects. School was the main focus in 2008 and I hope that can change in 2009 - I want my DJ'n carreer to be bigger and better - it will with the right help.

  • Christmas and Douche Bag

    Christmas 2008

In my family we have a small little tradition that we have been following for years, ever since I was little kid, I could remember that we always had Christmas Eve dinner at my house, Christmas Day dinner at my uncle's house, and Boxing day at my house again; because its my dad's birthday. This year this Christmas seemed different, probably because of the loads amount of snow that have been preventing people from getting around. Also alot of people went to there bf/gf's house instead.

The older you get the less fun Christmas is, well atleast for me. When you were younger its all about money and gifts - you reduce the amount of gifts you get the older you get because your not young, cute and adorable anymore. When your older you have to buy all the little kids gifts, leading to a cycle. Older adults by young kids gifts, young kids have TONES OF GIFTs = awesome christmas, Older adult dont have awesome christmas just a hurting wallet.

Anyways This is what what I got for Christmas I got this book

My friend said " I saw this book and I thought of you, Roman, not that you're a douche but when you go to the club you can spot out the douche's there".

The Book is Freaking halirious - its talks about what are douche bags, the history, what attracts girls to douche bags and the type of girls and also how to NOT become a douche or how to de douche yourself if you are a douche bag.

In De-Douching yourself there are 12 steps:
Step 3 - Put the Collar Down -
Step 2 - No more gang signs -

When I read those 2 steps - I bursted out laughing for 15mintues - to learn more about douche bags click here

  • Where are YOU going to be for NYE? And Spelling Mistakes

I know Christmas hasn't come yet, but as soon as Christmas comes BANG its New Years Eve (NYE).
Where are you going to be for NYE?
For the past 22 years I always spent New Years Eve with the family. They have the saying the start the new year with a family and it will end of family, but last I year I spent it with my friends. We partied it at a local club and it was a blast. Everyone in the club was actually pretty friendly. WE were all in a good mood and no drama broke out in the club. In the smoke pit we smoked 10 dollar cigars from a local convenient store and we were adored by others. The people were amazed that we had cigars and everyone had small cigarettes - but besides that it was a memorable night.

This NYE I'll spinning at a club downtown and what grinds my gears is that they spelled my name wrong.
Roman J is mistaken for ROMEO J.
This is has happened more than once! Does Romeo J sound better than Roman J seriously?

Roman J - has meaning behind it, Roman is my legal middle name and the J stands for  my high school pass, Jigga, Jay-z favorite rapper.
Yes put it all together its ROMANJIGGA hence the xanga name - if you haven't cracked the code yet

Romeo J - Sounds like a character from the movie Romeo Must Die featuring Jet Li - good movie takes place in Vancouver -

Why is  Roman J mistaken for Romeo J - maybe I should consider changing my dj name to that.

Take a look of the mistake.....At The Bottom
